Ebert Liked Garfield!

The fu</>cking sh</>it?
Ebert's pretty f?cked up these days.
Pretty much proves Ebert has no clue.
I'm not quite sure he actually saw the film.
The problem is Ebert now has such a large audience that it is becoming hard for him to do his job.
Yeah, damn the man for having an opinion of something. Damn him, I say!
Then write your own fuc</>king reviews, peons.
He doesn't say that it's a great movie and admits that it's formulaic, but gives good reasons for liking it: he thinks the movie has personality and is charming and technically well-made. Can't really argue with that - after seeing the trailer, I thought it was pretty impressive how convincing Garfield looks in his live-action surroundings.

Unless I am drugged I won't be going near this movie.

He seems to have mellowed out somewhat in recent months... but I see nothing wrong with that. It's kind of nice to see a reviewer more prone to finding the good in films than the bad, even if not quite as helpful.
who the **** is ebert? And what happened to garfield's eyes?? Is he on drugs??
Eh, it's his opinion...even if it's incorrect. I still won't be watching it.
...how does anyone here know his opinion is "incorrect" if they haven't seen it?...isn't coming to such a conclusion only possible if you've actually seen the movie yourself?...
...that being said, after reading the review I still have no desire to pay almost ten dollars to see the film...I'll wait for it to come to HBO or something...

Ash Likewise, even if you have seen the film, and hate it, it doesn't make his opinion "incorrect", it just means he disagrees with you. A degree of mathematical certianty is less than essential in stating whether one enjoys watching the antics of a talking CGI cat or not.
i haven't seen the film or anything, but he mentioned in the review that he felt like hiring Bill Murray to do the voice was inspired casting and that's exactly what i thought when i first saw the trailer.. it might not be a great film by any means, but i'm sure Murray does a fine job.
Poor Ebert; every time he disagrees with the majority, they all jump on him. The price of fame, one supposes.
And from seeing the trailer more times then I cared to:he's probably right about Bill Murray, but something tells me that's not enough to save the film.
The fact is that most supposedly "awful" films like Garfield, Gigli and probably Catwoman are nowhere near as awful as people want them to be.
Pack mentality.
ebert sucks at writting reviews, as im reading this im trying to figure out why he likes the movie or doesnt but the whole review is just explaining the movie without a real option on it. i already know the plot and that garfield is cgi now tell me why you liked the movie?!
and like ash said, please stop saying ebert is wrong and that the movie sucks unless you actually seen it too.

This much I agree with.
Note to self - when making joking comments in the future, include smilies to indicate as such so people don't lose their cool over an obviously bull**** remark.

Well, someone had to like it. I notice he also gave four stars to Baadasssss!
As much as I like and respect Ebert...his summer movie credibility level goes down....this summer "VanHelsing and Day After Tomorrow" were recommended.....over the past few years such summer gems as
"Congo", "Speed 2", " A Time to Kill", "Tomb Raider 1and 2", "Species" were all thumbs up!!!! yet "Spiderman" and "South Park" thumbs down!!!
I heard that the people in China love Garfield

He admits how stupid most of them are, but enjoys them on some level. I can tell you that I enjoyed all of these on some level (Van Helsining was pretty bad, but I did enjoy it with a kind of vampire loving glee).
Quote: yet "Spiderman" and "South Park" thumbs down!!! I hated Spiderman (I don't think his pun-flinging dialogue works very well on the page, and it's about twice as bad on the screen), and I believe Ebert wrote afterwords in a book that South Park should have gotten a recomedation.
They're oppinions, people! He's not forcing you to go see the movie. Quite frankly, I wouldn't touch "Garfield" with a ten foot pole, and I'm a cat person.
How shocking that Ebert doesn't think like the average GD poster!...
Ebert's review has convinced me to see it--seriously. Actually, I kinda wanted to see it anyway because I have many fond memories from my youth of laughing at the zany antics of Garfield and now I have an excuse.
Also, I forsee a heated debate between Roger and Roeper this weekend because Richie usually savages kiddie flicks...
