Hot Discussion: Filmmaker45's 50 Favorite Films

Tag: General Discussion

Apologies for the very amatuerish banner. This isn't a Top list, or a "Best" list. Hell some of these movies probably wouldn't make my Top 50 if I ever attempted to organize one. I can't work with ranked list. I think to much and I just can get set on one. However I love to talk about movies I love, so I've reserved this spot on the RT server as my spot to talk about movies I just think are really great. It might feature some films from my Top 10, maybe not. It's whatever film is on my mind.

I'll try to make it interesting and hopefully there are a few on here, you haven't seen yet. Anything I put on here I highly recommend. I hope you enjoy and thank you for any comments.

Awesome

Bring it on.

Nice.

Woo...hhahahah

Cool.

Lets get this list a going.

Well because of the sad passing of the legend Paul Newman, I decided to rent this film for a second time. I'd seen it two years ago, but I hadn't remembered all that much. Rewatching it again, I've rekindled my love for this film, which is actually one of the first big classics I had watched. At the time of my first viewing I was still just getting into cinema.

I love this movie because while it's not an epitome of cinematography, or direction. It's just a really good, entertaining story, with great characters. I love the performances in this movie, Robert Shaw really knocks it out of the park. The characters are professionals, and are cool as ice. Paul Newman in a trench coat, and hat is just as cool as any of the big action hero's of the 80s.

It's a blast to watch these characters, scheme their con. My favorite scene is the poker game on the train. It has very little dialouge, and is just some guys playing poker, but the tension between Newman and Shaw make all the difference.

Anyone who hasn't seen this one yet should, if anything to honor The Man, Paul Newman.

I like The Sting.

I like your top 5 filmmakers.

I expect to see at LEAST three Kubrick films on this list or I will be sorely disappointed.

I blind bought this film, figuring it would be pretty good since it had a criterion and the talent involved. I didn't expect it to completely blow my mind. This film very well could make it to my Top 10. One of the most electrifying films I've ever seen.

I love the multi character structure . Each characters story representing a faction of the issue of the "War on Drugs". I really feel this film has something important to say about my countries drug policies, and how they carry out these policies. At the same time, the film gets emotionally involing as it takes it's time, letting you get to know the characters.

My favorite story is the one with Micheal Douglas as the leader of the "War on Drugs" and a struggling father as his daughter quickly becomes a heroin addict. I think this is the films most personal story, and most emotional. It leads down to a disturbing climax that tore me apart. I also go crazy for the editing techniques, and cinematography this film uses. THe quick crazy editing, with the grainy unstable color look. I like how the lighting, and look of the film changed as it shifted to each story. Each color fitting well into what is happening.

This is a stunning picture, and I demand you see it soon. You won't be dissappointed.

Can't wait for the rest.

The Sting is great, Traffic.... it was good.

Don't really like Traffic.

Haven't seen The Sting.

Damn. I had no idea Traffic wasn't well liked. Well, it's only three posters but still.

Traffic is the only Soderbergh film I particularly like. It's very good.

Traffic is good, The Sting is grear, a lot of fun, and Newman/Redford are magic.

I look forward to your list man. You seem like you share a lot of my tastes in movies. And I do love Traffic, easily one of my favorites. Keep truckin brother.

Traffic was underwhelming. Still decent though.

Nice list so far, good luck on the rest of it...
