***RANT ALERT***

Its the 86 minute runtime that has me worried. The game had no nudity, and about one swear word(bull**** as I recall) all it had was violence. What also makes me mad is the director. He gets all pissed off when the mpaa gives it an R rating. Why? I would be releved if my movie got an R and the studio didnt force a cut, but he wanted to cut it for pg13. For what reason?

B.O. weekend numbers most likely. But that just proves hes not a director with passion for the work, all he wants is the money. I just dont understand why I have to wait until the dvd to see all the violence and nudity I schould have gotten for my 10 dollers.

When I payed 10 dollers to see the dark knight I atleast got 2 1/2 of entertainment, now I dont expect Payne to be as good but I atleast want 100 minutes of movie. 86 minutes, minus opening credits, 81 minutes, minus ending credits, 75 minutes. 75 total minutes of movie. What the hell Director John Moore, what the hell(not that I expect much out of that *******).

I wonder exactly where you are getting this 86 Minute runtime seeing as how no movie website has an official runtime yet. IMDb doesn't count, seeing as anyone can edit that information. Not long ago, before the film was even given the unofficial R rating that pissed off Moore, the film was listed as being 88 minutes. A few days later, it was 126 minutes. After that, it changed to 99 minutes, followed by an update saying 86 minutes (Heavily Cut). Unless I missed something official somewhere else, Max Payne has no official runtime listed yet.

Also, Moore was contractually obligated by Fox to make a PG-13 film and didn't want to cut anything, which is why he was pissed that it got an R rating. Not to mention the MPAA's comment that it "feels R" due to the dark tone of the movie, not for anything explicit in the movie.

As much as I loved the video game series, I'm doubtful about the film. I hope for the best, but the storytelling, music and cast in the film has me worried.

Well, im not really sure. This movie looks pretty cool. has a cool view of the story from the games thought i dont know what those demon looking things are unless he is dreaming.

but anyways this is going to easily be either a terrble movie or a pretty good movie. I will most likely seeit as i have been planning too. But yeah directors other movies were pretty crappy. we will just have to wait.

I have played the game max payne for the x-box gaming system and was ver impressed with the amount of detail that was givin to the story line. my hopes for this movie are high due to the fact that of the atmosphere that surrounds this movie. the same as in Rodrigez's Sin city which without the dark and gritt atmosphere would have been a run of the mill action movie. you see atmosphere and acting are key to a movie. and mark wahlbergs performance in the happenening was outstanding. this movie despite its pg-13 rating should and could be a smash hit movie. aas long as it stays true to the games violent tendencies and story it will be a sucess. i promise you this. but dont wuote me on any of it either.

Perhaps it would be more wise of me not to get pissed at VG adaptation as much, but when the matrial has so much potential how can I not. Or maybe im just too much of a max payne fanboy and the only way id be satisfied is if I directed the movie and adapted the script myself, but that wont ever happen so i'll hope that the movie gets at least a 65 tomatometer at best.

this movie won't be that bad. im not expecting the film noir that the game is. the rating doesnt worry me because there was bearly any swearing, no sex, reasonably toned down violence. it's just a dark film based more on story and action than blood and titties. (at least in the first game, anyway)

dark knight was a dark and sadistic film and it was pg13, i doubt this will be any more watered down.



as for the critics, this movie gonna get pooped on because critics write reviews, they don't play games, and they don't know what theyre talking about. why listen to them?

I'm refusing to see the movie under the premise of a video game adaption, because I know I'm going to be disappointed. I'm simply going to see it as a mindless action film that happens to have certain parallels with a very good video game. If they did actually follow the plot--and cast someone better (sorry, but Mark just isn't tough enough, I like Clive Owen or someone along those lines)--then I would be very impressed. Seeing as I haven't really seen any advertising for the film outside of website stuff, I don't think the film's going to do too well commercially (which is why they should've kept the R rating, if the hype wasn't going to be pushed much).

Still, I think it will at least mark an improvement for game adaptions--even if 95% of the adaptions were Boll films, and thus, don't count as films.

[I'm fervently praying that BioShock and Gears of War are not completely sold out and slammed as bad movies because they're based on games. Seriously, a lot of games have immensely better plots than many movies--Indigo Prophecy, Knights of the Old Republic, BioSchock....]

Avoid the movie -- play the games.

Film critic Brian Orndorf said excactly what I was feeling/thinking about the movie. We must be twins! I hope not thought becuse hes ****-ugly.
