Hot Discussion: I just bought StarCraft

This is my first time playing it, and it is f****** hard as hell. I get destroyed playing 1 enemy on easy. There isn't enough gas on the map. It is funny how good this game is considering it was released forever ago.

Good advice. The campaign is pretty fun, well-paced and gives you a nice introduction to all of the units.

Enjoy! It's one of my all-time favorite games and pretty much the go-to game that me and my friends played back in college.

Funnily enough, I just started re-playing it. It holds up brilliantly.

I'm also trying to get good at this game. Just keep at it, it can be frustrating as hell sometimes. We should have a game sometime, I'm probably around the same skill level as you.

It also helps when your room mate plays all the time and attempts to explain strategies to you that fly right over your head :P

Btw watch the hell out for electriciti and Heist. Those sneaky canadians are damn good Craft players.

Game is fun as balls! Stick with it. Soon you will find your mojo. Just don't rush it. Killing aliens is an art.

Learning the tech tree and establishing a build order is necessary to be competitive. You can't beat the computer if you're going to spend 20 seconds hovering your mouse over a unit or building to discover it's stats, abilities, or requirements.

Here's my tip to you: Don't play zero-clutter, BGH type maps. Screw that poopoo.

One thing that I often see with players new to the game is they don't build enough resource gatherers and therefore by mid-game, don't have the output to match their opponents. Having a large supply of miners by mid-game (10 min mark) is crucial.

Yeah, I am playing through the campaign now. It is really tough, but like any new game you pick up, it should come with time. I like this far better than C&C Generals, the other RTS game I picked up a month ago.

I figure if I play through the campaign by the time I am done, I will be familiar enough to be more adept at doing skirmishes.
