What games that took up most of your life?
Tag: General Video Game Discussion(not in order)
Super Mario Bros. (NES)
Mario Kart 64 (N64)
Animal Crossing (GCN)
Super Mario World (SNES)
I estimate I've spent between 100-400 hrs on each of these individually
Super Smash Bros. (N64)
Super Smash Bros. Melee (GCN)
Mortal Kombat II (SNES)
Goldeneye (N64)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
I estimate between 80-200 hrs. on these each.
How about you?
Wolfenstein 3D
Doom I/II
Quake
and especially Quake 2. I played the greatest mod ever called Action Quake 2 for over 4 years almost daily.
Also Dune 2 and C&C were played alot back in the day.
On consoles, maybe all the Sonic games and a really magnificent game called "Toki Going Ape Spit". A damn hard game for a small kid, and I haven't completed it even to this date. Gotta go back to it someday.
Also the game just might have the greatest menu music ever!
It depends on the time period really. But the only games that have consistently taken my time over the years have been Street Fighter games (the whole series, including the marvel vs capcom stuff).
Got to go with:
Final Fantasy 6
Secret of Mana
Super Mario Brothers 3
Soul Blade
Super Smash Brothers Melee
Everquest....By a large margin. This would probably be the answer from quite a few people.
StarCraft, Diablo II, and to a lesser extent, maybe Duke Nukem 3D and Quake III: Arena. But I think Diablo II takes the proverbial cake.
I lean more toward action/adventure games so it's rare for one to hold me for long
of course Super Mario Bros. had me for years but that was my first you know. I got that before I really knew how to play.
Nothing else except maybe Worms which had me for most of college
and Galaga on the Gameboy which I guess I played off and on for years only stopping when I kind of plateued and didin't think I could get any better
Starcraft (endless online multiplayer)
Final Fantasy Tactics (18 playthroughs, including "special" games)
Link's Awakening and A Link to the Past(Around 15 playthroughs each)
Super Metroid (10 or so playthroughs)

Quake.....
Quake II....
Quake 3 Arena.....
Golden Sun....
And, Golden Sun: The Lost Age.....

As a Lightweight, I unfortunately am in the realms of being in contentions with real welterweights in the countless amounts of hours you all have put into games. I shame myself having never accumulated unprecedented hours into, well, any game. I don't think I quite have the disipline yet, I'm still young, and would much rather choose, presented the choice, to play through Final fight 3 again then KOTOR;the ginormity of the game, and possible complexity of even getting started, is intimidating. This is not to say though I do not adore some RPG's from time to time, I'm just more traditional... so my list is:
Final Fantasy VII (99+ hours)
Amplitude (60?)
Super Mario RPG (Think of how long 3 playthroughs would take)
Final Fantasy X (59 hours, but still not going to beat it, I don't know why)
Earthbound (Same three playthroughs)
Super Mario World (Same three playthroughs)
Diablo (50?)
Though, the winner of consistant playing, Grand Theft Auto 3; three weeks straight, religiously.]
Burgertime - many, many quarters spent on this game
Tron Deadly Discs - Intellivision
Sim City and Sim City 2000
Gauntlet
Rollercoaster tycoon
Karateka
Duke Nukem
Rampart
Age of Empires 2
GTA3
Madden (all years) - NFL2K-2K3 - ESPN 2004 Football games
I almost forgot the 2 that took up the most time of all...
Sid Meier's Pirates!
and
Ikari Warriors

Actually, In The Mood probably tones down the camerawork and symbolism a bit from Chungking. Chungking has a French New Wave flair to it and the camerawork, especially during the first story, which is sort of "crazy and all over the map." As far as symbolism, this one is loaded, although if I think about it, probably not more so than In The Mood.
I'm not sure how In The Mood could have confused you, though.

*marks off the to-rent list*
Quote: I'm not sure how In The Mood could have confused you, though. I didn't have any problems during the first 45 minutes or so. Once the actual cheating starting taking place, I had absolutely no clue what was going on. Even the most basic story points were lost on me. *shrug*
Damn was it beautiful to look at, though.
Tetris, and Diablo 2, easily.
Let's see....been playing Tetris at least 3 or 4 times a week for the last 16 years. That has to count as the biggest time sucker of all. But then there's the Diablo series. Pure video cocaine. I played the first one for more than my fair share, but when you consider that I have played Diablo 2 at least once a day for the past 4 years, it is easily the next biggest life-waster I have encountered. I'm so addicted, I started another single-player/open bnet sorceress just yesterday.
When Blizzard announces Diablo 3, expect me to kill myself.

Goldeneye.
Super Mario World...played through it 2 or 3 times on my game, then helped my friend beat it 2 times, then his info was erased somehow, so I played it again with him.
Everquest.
Hands down, no contest, game over, man.
I played EQ for just under 2 years, 10-20 hours a week.
What a great time it was. Though at the end, it got to be pretty shallow.
When the game was new, and everything was fresh, it was one hell of an EXP
RIP
Nuvin Subdivo
The Singing Wood Elf Ranger of Kelethin
The games that I played the most are Final Fantasy 7/9, Metal Gear Solid, Mario Kart Double Dash, Timesplitters 2 alex the kid and Sonic 2.
Street Fighter 2 and Phantasy Star 2.
Collectively, I've probably given more hours of my life to other games, but those two games were subject to some of the longest gaming marathons I can recall.
Looking back on how many hours you've all spent on one or a couple games. Do any of you regret spending that much time in a single game, playing the same levels over and over? I regret spending so much time with Mortal Kombat II. Why did'nt we spread our time over several games? The ones we have not beat or played at all, because we all have worthy titles that we have not tried.
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2
And recently, Kingdom Hearts. The final world is tough as nails.
I'll go with Civ 2, Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea. Disgaea has me around 150 hours and counting.

Not really. The bulk of my time playing Street Fighter 2 was in the arcade or with friends so it I wasn't missing out on other games at home. I do wish that I spent more time playing SNK fighting games though... just for some more variety...
Perfect Dark
GTA 3
Super Smash Bros Malee
mainly quake 3
and i just got animal crossing on friday and thats taking up a lot of my time
Bard's Tale 2
ALthough I do not have much time or patience for RPGs anymore.
